The University Church of St Thomas More Parish at Bini-Dang, Ngaoundere in North Cameroon wore a festive look on 15 February 2004. On that day, more than 1000 students from the nearby University of Ngaoundere thronged the church in Bini-Dang to witness a most solemn and impressive ceremony of the perpetual profession of two young Fransalians, Brothers Manoj Arackal and Shibu Keereppel. Two young religious making their final commitment in the prayerful and enchanting presence of a group of 1000 young men and women was indeed a most delightful and unforgettable experience.

  

 

Fr Jean-Paul Fournier, Provincial of France-Swiss province, presided over the Eucharist and preached the homily. Fr Jose Parappillil, Provincial of South-West Province, received the vows. The Vicar General, Chancellor and a number of priests and religious from the diocese of Ngaoundere were also present. The youthful parish choir was at its best with a beautiful mixture of African festive hymns and French melodies transforming the entire ceremony into an exhilarating experience of a vibrant faith and a joyful commitment.

 

 

 

The University Parish of Bini-Dang and the two rural parishes of Berem/Karna-Mbe have been entrusted to the Fransalians by the Bishop of Ngaoundere. Fr Binoy Kidangathkarot is the Parish Priest of Bini-Dang/Berem and Chaplain to the University students assisted by Fr Joshy Nellimalamattam. Fr Jaison Pezhathinal is due to join the community as a member of the pastoral team at Bird Dang besides being the Parish Priest of Karna-Mbe byjune 2004.
