The spirituality of St. Francis de Sales is a “Spirituality of the Heart,” relevant today as in the time of St. Francis de Sales himself - an all-embracing, Down-to-earth Spirituality for everyone.

A Programme for the Rajbonshi Catholics

Fransalian International,  Vol. 7  January 2004

An intensive catechetical training Programme for Rajbonshi Catholics and Rajbonshi Catechumens was conducted at the St. Paul’s Centre, Rangia, Assam, on March 22-27, 2004.  The training programme was exclusively meant for the Rajbonshi community. There are very few Rajbonshi Catholics. But there is a great interest and desire among the Rajbonshis to accept Christianity. Thirty-one Rajbonshis attended the programme. Fr Milkius Tirkey, the Asst. Director, animated all the sessions. They were taught the basic elements of Christianity through film show, charts and the celebration of Sacraments. They have tremendous faith in Jesus and showed considerable interest in learning about Jesus, the Holy Bible and the Church. So they were introduced to the celebration of Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist in Assamese language, the daily recitation of Holy Rosary, adoration and the way of the cross. Rt. Rev. Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil. D.D., Bishop of Bongaigaon, presided over the Holy Eucharistic Celebration on the concluding day. He talked with them personally for an hour about their faith and exhorted the Rajbonshi to accept Christ. He also encouraged them to come together every Sunday for prayer services in their respective villages. The programme was concluded with a short cultural programme.

MSFS Study House, Shillong

Fransalian International,  Vol. 1  January 1999

The Founder's Day Celebration on September 30, 2004, at MSFS Study House, Shillong, was made eventful by the blessing of the new extension of the Study House by Rt Rev. Dominic Jala, SDB, the Archbishop of Shillong. A new chapel, a few rooms, and a hall for a proposed "cultural documentation" are added to the old building. The Perpetual Profession of nine Scholastics in the presence of Rev. Fr Abraham Mullenkuzhy, the Provincial of North East Province added colour and beauty to the functions of the day. The day was marked by the presence of many of our confreres, several fathers, sisters, brothers, benefactors and other well-wishers.

Divine Mercy Parish Mawryngkneng

Fransalian International,  Vol. 1  January 1999

Divine Mercy Parish, Mawryngkneng, the second MSFS parish in the Archdiocese of Shillong, on the Khasi Hills, was opened on March 22, 2003. The parish is on the National High Way. just 37 km away from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The Parish has a total number of 400 Catholic families spread over seven villages. Most of these villages have beautiful village churches with vibrant communities of believers.

The faithful are generally quite hospitable and hardworking. They get up early morning and go for work to far-away-places. Often one could see them coming for the Holy Mass before they start for work. The parish is already on a growth-path under the guidance of Fr Roy Parayan:yil, the Parish Priest. The activities of the parish are well-organized. A new plot of land is bought for the parish. The construction of presbytery is underway. The schools are coordinated and curriculum is regulated.

YCS/YSM,  Shillong

Fransalian International,  Vol. 1  January 1999

The YCS/YSM movement is an answer to the meaningful and purposeful life of the young students.  Its aim is to build ‘A Just Society.’  Though the YCS/YSM movement has been functioning in the country for the last 38 years and more, it had not spread its wings in the North-east India due to many problems in the ethnic and socio-cultural field.

Today there are 62 units of it in the North-east region, which are spread over in all seven states.  Brothers of MSFS Study House, Shillong, are active collaborators of this movement.  They organize and conduct different programmes and seminars for the children of Shillong region such as the awarding of Mermier Rolling Trophy for Bible Quiz competition and cultural competition between different schools, conducting tuition for the poor students, seminars on various topics, awareness programmes, publishing of the news-letters, and organizing picnics.

An educative and motivational programme for the 9th and 10th standard students of SFS School, Medziphema, All Saints School, Peren, SFS School, Kangpokpi and Holy Cross School, Dimapur, was organized under the title “Fransalian Youth Education and Awareness Programme” on June 28 – July 15.  the programme seesions were based on themes like “Self-Discovery,” “SQ3R (Study Method),” “Time Management,” “Friendship,” “How to Concentrate,” “How to Overcome Shyness,” “Art of Effective Speaking,” “A True Leader” and “How to Cultivate and Choose Life Values.”
