On January 24, 2005, the Institute of Florimont (1905-2005) celebrated its centenary organized by both the College and the School. The centennial celebrations began with a Holy Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Geneva presided over by Mgr Pierre Farine, the auxiliary Bishop of Fribourg, in the presence of Fr. Jean Paul Fournier, the Provincial of Franco-Swiss Province, the MSFS confreres, professors, and students.

After lunch, all gathered in the school ground for further programme at which Mr. Sean Power, the Director of the school, officially declared the centennial year opened and Fr. Provincial delivered the inaugural address. Later, everyone shared the ‘gâteau d’anniversaire’ with 100 candles. It was followed by an exhibition of the archived photographs projected on a silver screen. What a surprise it would have been for the children of the 21st century to discover the old buildings, sports and games, dresses and customs of the past, which must have left certain indelible impressions on their minds.

Les Equipes, Notre-Dame

Some of our confreres – Fr. Baechier, Fr. Vannay, Fr. Carron – animate an associationo f families called “Equipe Notre-Dame” (END), a movement founded in Paris in 1947 by Fr. Caffarel to help the catholic couples to grow in their spiritual life. Once a month the members gather in one of their own families to meet and pray together. The meetings begins with a simple meal during which they share with all the members the happenings of the past one month, and then study and discuss on a specific theme proposed for the year by the association. Every year, on December 8, the various ‘Equipes’ (END) of the same diocese gather together to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Another day, either in May or in June, is set apart for spiritual conference. Children are not forgotten. They are also occupied with animations adapted to their age. In September 2006, there will be an international gathering of the END, from all continents, at Lourdes.
