The spirituality of St. Francis de Sales is a “Spirituality of the Heart,” relevant today as in the time of St. Francis de Sales himself - an all-embracing, Down-to-earth Spirituality for everyone.

Blessing of the First MSFS house: The transfer of the land and property once over, we got the house and chapel repaired and painted. The new unit of the Fransalian community – Fr. Ignatius D’Costa as the formator, Brothers Stephen Ubadeshi and Raju Kharchan along with the three local candidates – moved into the new house on the feast day of St. Francis de Sales. On April 14, the house “Casa Fransalianos” was inaugurated by Fr. Agnelo Fernandes and blessed by His Grace, Dom Chimoio, the Archbishop of Maputo. Many religious as well as diocesan priests concelebrated with His Grace and the Auxiliary Bishop Dom Langa in the beautifully decorated quadrangle.

Blessing of the First Convent:  It took four years for us to have the presence of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Africa. The ‘Pontificium Propagatione A Fide’ helped us to get the convent constructed. With grateful hearts we awaited for this day – April 24, 2005 – to get the first ever convent blessed. While Fr. Agnelo inaugurated it, Bishop Dom Januario, the Secretary General of the Conference of the Bishops of Mozambique, blessed it. The Superior General of the Sisters spoke on the occasion.

Blessing of the Tube-wells: Water is life. Yet, our people do not have it. For those who have it, it is muddy, dirty, salty, and in distant places. With the help of “Afro-Drill”, we started exploring possibilities. Praise God, the Giver of drinking water! We struck good water at 6 villages distantly located (4 other places: no water, another 4 places: salty water). The inexplicable expressions of joy of having water – for the first time in the life of villagers – were seen on their faces.

Blessing of the Renovated Chapel at the Village, Muchocolote, in the interior jungle of Matutuine: It took months to get the possession of the chapel as it was still with the village-school. Once we got it, as we entered into it, we felt “oh, it’s of no use; too old, neither usable nor repairable.” We found a way out when the architect pronounced, “The structure is strong.” After several months of renovation work, it was usable again.
