The General Chapter 2001 desired to have a Mission Institute for the whole Congregation, and the Extra-Ordinary General Chapter 2003 directed the General Administration to study the feasibility and viability of the Mission Institute in Africa. At the joint meeting of the General Council and the Indian Provincials Forum held in Bangalore in Nov 2005, the Provincials agreed to propose executive decision to be taken by the General Council and assured all support and help to implement the concept step and step. The General Council therefore in its meeting of November 2005 took the following decisions concerning the Mission Institute in Africa.

• That the proposed Mission Institute is the project of the entire congregation and therefore as and when personnel is required the provinces which have more personnel will be approached to release the necessary personnel and provinces which have more financial resources will be asked to contribute their share of finances.

• That the entire Congregation should be involved in the project in some way or the other right from the beginning. This was also the desire of the General Chapter 2003. Initially the East Africa countries constituting of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda will benefit more specially from the proposed Catechetical Centre and Aids Counselling Centre. Later on all the MSFS Missions in Africa will directly benefit from the project when we have a common philosophate, formators' institute, and missionary orientation programmes.

• That the MSAF ( Mission Superiors Africa Forum) is authorized to work out the further details of the Implementation Plan and to prepare the First Draft of a Statutes for the proposed Mission Institute by 15th May, 2006.
