The spirituality of St. Francis de Sales is a “Spirituality of the Heart,” relevant today as in the time of St. Francis de Sales himself - an all-embracing, Down-to-earth Spirituality for everyone.

Adieu, Fr. Francis Moget

Rev. Fr Francis Moget, msfs, a zealous missionary, an indefatigable teacher, a committed pastor, a compassionate formator, a friend of the poor and needy, an embodiment of Fransalian hospitality and generosity, the founder of the Fransalian Ashram, Belgaum, passed away on September 17, 2005.

Born on October 14, 1920 at Savoy, France, as the eldest son of the family, Fr Moget joined the MSFS Congregation very young and was ordained at the age of 24, on July 30, 1944. After two years of work in France and a few months of learning English in England, he came to India in April, 1947. (He used to say jokingly that he ushered in the Independence of India)

Since then he had never looked back but stayed on to serve the people and the Congregation in various capacities, as a teacher, pastor, and mostly as a formator. He served as formator in all the Formation houses of the erstwhile Maharashtra-Goa Province. He founded the present Novitiate of Pune Province, 'the Fransalian Ashram,' Uchgaon, Belgaum, about 20 years ago. He asked to be retired and stayed on in the Ashram till his death. He was well known to the poor all around. There was hardly a day when he did not receive his honourable guests, 'poor people'.

Rev. Fr Mario D'souza, msfs, the Provincial of Pune Province, delivered a eulogy at his funeral thanking God for the gift of such a gem of a missionary to the Congregation. Adieu Fr Moget, may you rest in peace!
