Fransalians mean a lot to us

Mr. Victor Kimaro

It seems more realistic to think that whatever helps others to reflect on their lives is of great virtue and merit as many lack guidance and direction in their lives. More specific to mention is the fact that young people “Youth” need to be helped much in order to find meaning out of their own lives and thus become responsible people of their societies and the world at large.

I therefore put down some reflections to indicate how unassumingly Fransalians communications has been helping Christian students especially the ‘Roman Catholics’ in our University pertaining various aspects of spiritual and human growth.

In the past three years of my experience with the Fransalian brothers and priests has been so enriching and inspiring. In fact, I dare to say that if I personally am anything now, is due to great contribution from Fransalians communications. It is also beyond doubt that, the same experience is true, for the rest of my colleagues who are being reached by Fransalian’s generosity.

Fransalians have been facilitating for the students seminars, workshops, counselling and spiritual direction. Through these important undertakings, many students have been helped from the negative attitude of looking at their lives into more optimistic fashion. Good number of students have been able to be healed from past painful experiences and memories, for instance, broken relationships, hurts from parents and relatives and many other family and society related bondages. Many have changed from a state of total misery and have become happy individuals after having found the real meaning in their lives.  Many who were suffering from poor self image and low self esteem are now liberated persons living with better self confidence and new orientations in life.

There has been a systematic growth of faith in many students and general change of habits through seminars conducted by Fransalians. Solidarity among students has always been gradually increasing; many are becoming more prayerful and responsible to our community and the church at SUA.

Furthermore, through good link and contact between Fransalians and students church leaders, it has been possible to have the celebration of the Holy Eucharist once in a week for both Campuses – Mazimbu and SUA – Main Campus. At Mazimbu the Holy Eucharist is due every Friday evening and at SUA- Main Campus is due every Wednesday evening.  This has contributed in bringing students together as a family and share the spiritual food “Holy Communion”. It has also increased spiritual vigilance among students and so they usually long for it.

There has also being short-term workshops by Fransalian brothers accompanied by brotherly visits, sharing, and friendship. It is also worth pointing out that, we have been obtaining easily religious books  and articles at a lower price from Fransalians bookshop. They are very useful to us  for our spirituality and growth.

With the many benefits we obtain from our close association with Fransalians as already explained I can say with all convictions on behalf of all my friends that Fransalians are our brothers in faith who are to be treasured. We kindly request them to continue helping us students, for without them we remain like sheep without a shepherd.

Finally, we as a community promise to offer Fransalians to God always through our humble prayers that they may increasingly continue to be instruments of God to us and to all the nations of the world. God bless us- God bless Fransalian community in Kola and all the Fransalians wherever they are.
