Ministries in the Province
According to the
projects of our Founder, Fr. Pierre MERMIER, the ground ministries of the
Congregation are:
mission preaching,
youth
ministry
and missions abroad.
In our Province, the
confreres are active with the two first kind of ministries.
Many confreres are
preaching retreats (for various people) or recollections.
Salesian guided retreats of
8 or 4 days are animated by some MSFS, as well as other salesian families.
Confreres are also involved
in the ministry of pilgrimages on the footsteps of St Francis de Sales, and for
the “Salesian Week” (Novena to SFS) at the end of August every year.
Some have
written books on the Salesian spirituality; they are translated into English
(see “SFS Publications, Bangalore).
Youth ministry is concretely
released by the spiritual animation of both our schools : Institut Florimont,
at Petit-Lancy (Geneva, Switzerland), with about 1'000 pupils from the age of 3
to 20, and Ecole-Collège-Lycée St François de Sales (Juvénat) of Ville-la-Grand,
(Upper Savoy, France), with 1’300 pupils, from the age of 11 to 18.

Other ministries of the
youth are: chaplaincy of youth movements, like Scouts or « Action Catholique” (JEC,
ACE).
Some parishes are entrusted
to our confreres, in Switzerland or in France (Unité pastorale of Estavayer-le-Lac,
canton de Fribourg, Switzerland ; parishes St François de Sales, St
Matthieu-en-Genevois, Notre-Dame des Hermones and St Guérin en Vallée d’Aulps,
diocese of Annecy, France).
Ready to answer to new
ministries relevant to our times, the MSFS of the Province developed the
ministries of hospitals or prisons (Lausanne, Fribourg, Collonge-Bellerive,
Vessy, prison of Champ-Dollon in Switzerland; Annecy, Chevilly-Larue in France).
